Easter Saturday

We arrived home from Texas on the Saturday morning before Easter. After unpacking and doing some laundry, we started our Saturday Easter traditions. First up, baskets from the Easter Bunny...

All of the kids were pretty thrilled about new books, LEGO kits, kites, plus lots of yummy Easter candy too!

We decided to hide Maylie this year instead of our traditional plastic eggs...

She thought this was pretty fun!

Just kidding! The kids got right to work looking high and low for all of those jellybean-filled eggs!

Maylie remembered our little Easter egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's house so she was anxious to find and open each egg to discover the goodness within!

Not a bad loot for these little ones!

Ahhhh, yes, that's exactly what she was looking for!

We then headed to Frederick to celebrate Reygan's birthday with her and her family. A fun way to celebrate Easter and come back from our fun vacation!

Spring Break in Texas

Since the kids had a pretty long Spring Break this year (10 days if you count the two weekends plus the Monday after Easter) so we decided to head down to Texas to visit Jason's parents and his sister and three kids who live next door. We headed out right after school on Friday, March 18th and drove straight through the night with Jason and I taking turns driving. We arrived in Humble, Texas on Saturday at 11 a.m. and the kids played with their cousins nonstop that whole weekend.

While their cousins were at school during the day that week, Grandma and Grandpa Call took us on a few fun adventures near where they live.

On Monday we headed to downtown Houston and explored the tunnel system and some of the high-rise buildings. Landon is a bit scared of heights so he wouldn't get too close to that window...

On Tuesday we headed over to Lake Houston and a fun nature trail that wound around the area. All the kids loved being out in nature...

The trail was nice enough to be able to take a stroller on so we could contain this little girl a bit!

We enjoyed skipping rocks into the lake.

And playing inside this big tree trunk!!

We even found a tree fort someone had built but it was a bit rickety to climb all the way up.

It didn't stop us from trying our hand at tree climbing though!

We spent the rest of the week visiting various parks, flying kites, playing on the trampoline and running through the sprinklers. We also played a lot of board games together too. Such a fun and memorable way to spend our Spring Break!!

Staticity!!

This little girl has learned just how fun jumping on the trampoline truly is.

Her hairstylist may not agree however...

Is that static on the line?!?!?

This girl...

This girl is so cute, but also so much trouble. She loves getting into things, making messes, and causing havoc.

I guess that's why Heavenly Father made her so darn cute!!

Despite all the mischief, we sure do love our little Maylie Magoo!!

Starland Skate Night

Roller skating is definitely not my favorite activity in the world, but we all put on our brave faces and put those wheels on our feet for Paramount Elementary's Skate Night at Starland Roller Rink. Abby and Landon got roller-blades and were doing really well by the end of the evening. Landon came home with a lot of battle wounds from all of his crashing, but he didn't seem to mind too much. Abby didn't even fall once!

Nolan went around with either Jason or I but by the end he was moving around pretty good on his own. He felt more comfortable holding onto our hands or the wall though.

Even little Maylie tried out roller skating for the first time. She wasn't quite sure what to think of those big heavy, wheeled shoes on her feet!!

She sure looked cute going around with her Daddy though!

It was practically empty when we first got there since we arrived right as it started, but it was really crowded by the end of the evening. I am not a very good roller-skater myself and almost crashed into some little people because of my lack of skill. But at least I didn't fall!!

Friends are the Best!

Our friends Angela and Jacob invited us over for a little "St. Patrick's Party" on March 15th. She had these cute little hats for all the kids to wear.

We enjoyed a yummy rainbow lunch and cupcakes and played a few fun preschool style games. Maylie's favorite game involved putting M&Ms on a paper to make a rainbow design (or in Maylie's case, place as many M&Ms in her mouth before Mom catches me!) We all came home with a packet of "rainbow seeds" (Skittles!) Such a fun little party!!

Today is the Day for the Wearing of the Green...

On the eve of St. Patrick's Day, our home was filled with the sound of children eagerly making a Leprechaun trap. It was quite the production involving boxes, toilet paper rolls, and lots of green paper...

They put their best ideas to work, knowing that maybe at last their trap would work to catch a real Leprechaun...

Their finished product, just waiting for a jolly little green elf to enter in and get stuck...

They weren't able to catch a real Leprechaun this year, but at least he left something for them all in return.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Go Green Fest

On Saturday, March 12th the kids had their annual "Go Green" Festival at school. They always look forward to attending this each year and it did not disappoint. We walked around and did all the carnival games first...

And won lots of fun prizes along the way!

The kids were pretty good at using these chopsticks to pick up "Lucky Charm" cereal...

We then headed into the gym/cafeteria for some dinner and a magician performance. We got there a little too late for the bounce house, but we ended up winning one of the prize baskets filled with art and craft supplies at the end of the evening which helped to make up for that. A fun way to get ourselves ready for St. Patrick's Day!
