On March 4th, Landon turned 9 months old which means he has now spent more time outside than inside the womb (a very momentous accomplishment, indeed!) He is growing up so fast and is just such a sweet little boy. He is crawling all over the place, waving "bye", saying "Dada" and other jibberish, laughs all the time and keeps us entertained with all of his new antics. At 9 months he is 19 lbs (25th percentile) and 30.5 inches (off the charts), but he looks pretty chubby to all of us! He is still nursing, but has really taken to solid foods recently, as evidenced by the pictures below...
About a month ago, we bought some princess underwear for Abby to try to motivate her to use the potty. She really wanted to wear them, but I thought we had better start out with pull-ups first (I was really not into the whole "peeing and pooping all over the house thing"...imagine that!!) She didn't seem to do too well with the pull-ups, so after a couple of days we went back to good old diapers again. (Some people were really having a hard time believing that I wasn't potty-training her yet. I just wasn't ready for all the work that I thought it would entail and I figured she just wasn't ready yet so why push her?) I actually thought we would just wait for my mom's visit at the end of this month to really start trying since that way there would be two sets of hands involved. Then about 2 weeks ago Abby asked to wear her princess underwear again, and I thought "Eh, why not?" and she kept them dry all day!! I would say she's about 95% potty-trained now, she only has had a few accidents when she waits too long or gets distracted by playing with her friends. I consider this quite a success since I haven't had to really do a thing. She pretty well potty-trained herself, thanks to the Disney Princesses!! (I can only hope all of my children will be this easy to train!!)
Last week we bought a new swingset for our backyard. The home we are renting has a huge backyard so we thought for a while about getting one of those really nice wooden swingsets, but then we figured that this small one would be easier to move when that time comes. Besides, it has a slide and swings, so Abby and Landon are perfectly content with it!
On March 19th, we headed up to Philadelphia to watch BYU play Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Our trip was pretty lousy overall (BYU stunk it up, the weather was dreary and the kids were whiny) but I'll try to focus on some of the positive aspects of our trip...
Here we are watching BYU get their heinys kicked at the Wachovia Center (we were all in "BYU Blue" for the occasion, surrounded by a sea of maroon. Technically, we were winners either way since Texas A&M is where Jason got his MBA...but in all honesty, we were pretty disappointed with a BYU loss!)
The "awesome" view from our seats...we got tickets for pretty cheap, can you tell??? (Note: this is a picture taken with the highest zoom on my camera. If I had taken a true picture from our seats, the players would have appeard to be about the size of small ants!)
Inside Independence Hall (where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were debated and signed)...

After the game, we toured Philadelphia a bit (a really cool city.)

The Liberty Bell
The eternal flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (Revolutionary War)
The next day (March 20th), Jason and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We celebrated by going out to dinner and watching a movie together after the kids went to bed. Not too exciting of an evening, but we are hoping to get a vacation away (sans kids) later this summer/fall to celebrate a bit more (once Landon is done nursing.)
Five years ago...
And now...
That pretty much sums up our lives over the last little while. We are looking forward to having my mom come and visit us at the end of this week and we are really starting to enjoy the nicer weather that spring has brought. Until next time...
