Two Months Old

Time is speeding by right now and little Hudson turned 2 months old on January 30th!! I'm always a little sad when these milestones hit because it means my little baby is growing up, but we are loving this new stage too. He gives us such big smiles and is interacting with us much more. He is awake for longer periods of time during the day and is sleeping for longer stretches at night (usually!) He really loves to chew on his fist and tries so hard to get the whole thing in his mouth! He is fascinated by black and white images or any colorful object nearby. He is still a really good eater but now goes about 2-2.5 hours between feedings and doesn't really cluster feed in the evenings anymore. We haven't had to supplement with formula for a while now that I seem to be able to keep up with his voracious appetite!!

He had his two month check-up on Thursday, January 31st. He now weighs 12 lbs 2 oz (45th percentile) and is 25 inches long (99th percentile). He's a long and lean little one, except for his cheeks which seem to have doubled in size. They are perfect for kissing and munching on which we all love to do! We sure do love our little Hudson man!

Hudson Boy

This boy is killing us with his facial expressions recently. It is hard to capture on camera, but he gives the best smiles and wins us all over when he grants us one. My how we love our little Hudson boy!!

Bishop Call

Jason was called as Bishop of the Hagerstown Ward on Sunday, January 20th during our Ward Conference. We have actually known about this for quite some time. The Stake President called us in on my due date (November 27th) to extend the calling but wanted to give us time to adjust to the idea since we were about to have a baby any day.

We are both very overwhelmed with this new calling, but I know he will do great. We have really enjoyed having him home during his 8 weeks of paternity leave and will sure be sad when it officially ends on Wednesday, February 13th. It has been nice to be able to have so much family time together, especially now that he will have the equivalent of a part time job now that he is Bishop. This calling will require a lot of sacrifice from our entire family and is pretty overwhelming to think about on top of all the changes that come with having our 5th child.

Ready or not...here we go on our next adventure!!

Geography Bee 2019

Landon worked so hard studying for his school Geography Bee these last two months. He knew so much about world geography and was really hoping to place in the top 2 this year. The Geography Bee was held on Friday, January 18th and unfortunately he didn't make it quite as far as he had hoped, coming in 5th place. We were still proud of him and all of his efforts and bought him a world globe to mark his achievement. Winning a globe was the real reason he wanted to come in the top two so that helped to ease his disappointment!

It is such a nerve-wracking experience as both a student and parent when the Geography Bee is going on!!

Great job everyone!!

A few weeks later, Landon's photo was in the paper too!

Superhero Day

Maylie was very excited about Superhero Day at preschool in January. Especially when she found out that she could be a Superhero Princess!! Here she is with her class, showing off her special ring!

Big Sister

Maylie loves being a big sister to Hudson. Sometimes there's a little too much love around here. She is always wanting to be near him when he is awake and the phrase "OK let's get out of his face" is said A LOT, but I'll still take it. I imagine these two will become the best of friends as Hudson gets older and interacts with Maylie more and more. I'm sure she will provide him with hours of entertainment as she sings and dances her way through life!!

Snow Tubing

We had a fun time snow-tubing on Monday, January 14th. Paramount Elementary had a fundraiser at Whitetail Ski Resort that night so we enjoyed supporting that cause. It was pretty crowded for a Monday but nice to have some fresh snowfall there from the day before. Maylie still had to go on the kiddie tubing hill which meant lots of work for Abby and Jason who puller her around! Meanwhile I did my best to keep Hudson and myself warm by either watching the tubers by the outdoor fire or inside where it was nice and toasty!

Smiler!

Oh how I love this stage when they start to recognize you and your sing-song voice and give you their biggest and best smiles. Sure do love this little smiley guy of ours!!

New Year's Eve

We rang in the New Year with several of our friends and their families. We ate yummy food, played fun games and chatted and talked until midnight!! I really didn't think we would last that long with a newborn in tow, but he was a trooper and didn't seem to mind being up so late. Okay so he actually slept most of the evening but still let us enjoy ourselves!!

After we officially hit 2019, we took these fun group pictures.

The "kids"or at least those who were still around and willing to be in the picture...

And the adults...(plus a baby on my chest!!) These pictures were taken before some of the families left around 10 p.m.

Here's to a happy, healthy and productive 2019!!
