Newest Cub Scout

After turning 8, Landon was pretty excited about joining the Cub Scout Troop in our ward. I grew up in a family of all girls so Cub Scouts is all new to me. Hopefully we will both get the hang of the program soon.

I asked him to do some "Cub Scout" moves for me and here is what he came up with.

Lighting a fire...

And digging a hole!!

Love our newest Cub Scout!!

American Ninja Warrior Party!

Later in the afternoon of June 4th, we held a party at 4 Star Obstacles for Landon and his buddies. Landon has been obsessed for a while with "American Ninja Warrior" so this was a perfect place to celebrate his 8th birthday.

Here was the table of treats...

Our "ninjas" ready to put their skills to the test!!

They had all kinds of obstacles for the kids to try out including a rope swing...

A climbing ladder...

Landon was so proud to make it to the very top!!

The quintuple steps...

And lots of other things that I didn't get good pictures of!!

We took a little break for some snacks and cupcakes...

Then tried our hand at the warped wall. Abby was the best at this obstacle!!

After the party was over at 4-Star, we headed back home to open up some presents.

Landon is such a great little boy. He is so full of energy and can be exasperating at times, but he is very intelligent, a wonderful sportsman, and loves us all in his own way. He loves trying new things and taking things apart in order to figure out how they work. He is a master Lego builder and has quite the imagination. He is creative and funny and also recently started taking knitting lessons with a woman in our ward. He is a boy of many talents and abilities and we can't wait to see what this next year will bring for him. Happy 8th Birthday Landon!!

Landon is baptized!!

Landon's 8th birthday fell on a Saturday so he decided to make it an extra special day and be baptized on his actual birthday!!

He was all smiles that morning, so excited for his big day!!

He had some trepidation last year about wearing this jumpsuit to get baptized. We even considered buying him some white shorts and a shirt to get baptized in instead, but finally he decided that the jumpsuit wasn't so horrible after all!

It was such a nice baptismal service and we were lucky to have a lot of family members and friends join us for Landon's special day. We held his baptism in the morning and afterwards had a brunch for everyone to enjoy.

Here were the centerpieces. The number "8" made from powdered donuts!!

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day we headed over to Rest Haven Cemetery where they had a special program honoring our fallen veterans. Luckily we found some shade and enjoyed a nice morning outside.

They had a few speakers, a bugler rendition of "Taps" and then a quartet play some nice patriotic music.

Being surrounded by so many flags reminded us all how grateful we are for this great country and the freedoms that we enjoy here.

I couldn't help but think of my Dad during this ceremony and how much he would have enjoyed it. I know he would have shed a few tears thinking about his years in the military and his fallen comrades overseas.

So grateful for those who have given up all of their tomorrows in order for us to have our todays!

Preschool Graduate

At the end of May, Nolan finished up his preschool year at John Wesley Day Nursery and had his graduation picnic at Washington County Regional Park. He looked a little nervous walking in with his classmates...

He had such a cute little class and two great teachers!

They sang a little song for all the parents...

And then it was time to get his completion certificate.

He sure loved Mrs. Burns...

And Mrs. Happle...

Our Preschool graduate is now ready for a summer of fun before heading off to kindergarten this fall!
