Ice Storm

On Wednesday, February 7th we woke up to quite the ice storm. School was cancelled for the day and Jason was able to work from home. Since we never lost electricity, we got to just enjoy the beauty that an ice storm creates in the area around us.

We loved the look of our front tree!!

Front bushes...

There were these little icicles hanging all over everywhere...

Our pine trees in the back were looking a little droopy with all that ice on them but fortunately no branches were broken off.

Our neighbors weren't so lucky though. The tree is gorgeous with that layer of white ice on it, but that branch just couldn't handle all that extra weight!

Cub Scout Bird Houses

Landon has been blessed with an amazing Cub Cen Leader. She always has the neatest things for them to work on and Landon looks forward to going each week. This last week they worked on building birdhouses.

Landon is obviously deep in thought over his birdhouse design...

Here are all the Bears with their finished products. They all look great!

Snow Day!

We finally got a good amount of snow on Sunday, February 4th. They actually canceled church during the middle of Sunday School so that we could all get home safely.

That afternoon, all the kids enjoyed playing outside in the snow and Abby worked hard to make this giant snowman.

And yes it was just as creepy in real life as it is in this picture!!

Discovery Station Fun

We headed to the Discovery Station on Saturday, February 3rd for some "Candy Science" fun! We did a fun experiment with skittles lining a paper plate and some water.
It made this cool spiral shape!

We also did another experiment with pop rocks inside a bottle of coke that blew up a balloon!

Then we spent the next hour exploring the museum, doing art projects...

And riding into Outer Space...or at least dressing like we were!!

Last Mortgage Payment

Friday, February 2nd was a pretty big day for our family!!!
We bought our home in Hagerstown in May of 2010. Two years after buying it, we refinanced it into a 15-year mortgage at a lower interest rate and made a goal to pay it off as quickly as possible. We made extra payments every month and put most of our bonus and tax refund moneuy on the principal each year. We have been incredibly blessed and paid our very last mortgage payment on February 2, 2018.

We now officially own our home and are completely debt-free. It is an amazing feeling and we feel very blessed to be able to do this while still in our 30s!!

Rainbow Dash

We found this cute little jacket on the clearance rack at Marshall's and had to get it for Maylie.. She is obsessed with it now and insists on wearing it all the time!
She looks so cute with that little rainbow hood on top and those fun little wings on the back!!

Whittling Chip

On Tuesday, January 30th, Landon earned his Whittling Chip in Cub Scouts. This means he has learned to safely use a pocket knife and is allowed to bring it to Cub Scout events.
He LOVED finally being able to have a pocket knife. Oh the perks of being a Cub Scout!
