Superheroes at the Library

The summer reading program is all about superheroes this year. We attended a Superhero banquet at the library on Wednesday, June 23rd.

Ironman decided to join us too!

We made name badges and decided on our superhero powers...

Played a few superhero games (trying to stick paper balls onto a spider web made of tape!)

Showing off our superhuman punching abilities and earning some prizes in the process...

And making our own superhero masks...

Yes, this girl is always happy. We just love her!!

Even Maylie got in on the superhero action!

All the kids love to read and we have probably read over 40 books all together this summer already. Here's to many, many more books this summer!!

Last Game!

Landon was very sad to see his baseball season end on Thursday, June 18th. He played really well in his last game with three hits and two strikeouts as pitcher.

Here he is waiting to run...

And he's off!!

Getting some base running advice from one of the coaches...

He loved playing pitcher too.

Throwing those strikes!!

Here is his little fan club too. Nolan (a.k.a. Pirate boy!!)...

His friend Xavier's little sister...

Abby (I caught her scratching her nose but it looks like she's digging for gold up there!)...

And cute Miss Maylie...

It was such a fun season and Landon LOVED it. He is already talking about playing Fall Ball too. I guess I was completely wrong that baseball would be too slow to capture his interest. He is all about baseball now...watching, playing and even reading books about it!

Youth Track Stars

The Cumberland Valley Athletic Association holds track meets for both kids and adults every other Tuesday evening during the summer. I had heard of them in the past but had never made it over to North Hagerstown High School to check it out until a couple of weeks ago. Jason had Scouts and Abby had Activity Day girls so it was just me with the boys and Maylie.

We signed up Nolan for the 100 meter run.

He looked quite amazing in his "start" position...

And there he goes. He was a little nervous when the cap gun shot off so he didn't get a great start, but boy those little legs sure were moving once he finally got going...

Landon did the 100 meter run too!

Look at that form!!

He also competed in the 400 meter run too. He started off strong, struggled a bit in the middle, but then raced it right to the finish...

Each child received a ribbon and an ice pop after completing their event...what more do you need in life?!?!?!?

It was a fun way to spend a summer evening and we will definitely be back for more!!

The Livin' is Easy!

Oh how we love these lazy summer afternoons. This girl always tries to eat the grass so this green blanket allows us to enjoy the outdoors without too much grass consumption!!

Don't you love that wind-blown hair look?

Sure do love this little lady!!

First Trip to Greenbrier

The day that school got out for the summer was a pretty busy day. Soon after the water party that afternoon, we headed over to Greenbrier State Park for our first visit of the year. It was fun going in the evening this time, especially since Jason was able to join in on the fun!

This was Maylie's first visit outside the womb:) She was pretty enthralled with the sand...

There were several fistfuls that she attempted to eat but we thwarted her efforts for the most part!
Landon got right to work digging some holes in the sand...

And Nolan loved splashing in the water...

Photobomb courtesy of Abby!!

Abby showed off her jumping and splashing skills...

We head to Greenbrier most Tuesdays during the summer so it was fun to kick off this fun summer tradition again!

End of School Water Party!

The last day of school was only a half day so we thought it would be fun to hold a "Water Party" to celebrate the beginning of summer. We ended up having over 20 children come to our house for water games, slides, sprinklers, water gun fights and water balloons. Each child also brought a snack to share so they all enjoyed some yummy treats too.

It was a bit chaotic at times, but also a lot of fun!!

We had almost every elementary aged child in our neighborhood there and it was a fun way to start off our summer break!

Fortunately some of the moms stayed to help which was greatly appreciated!!

I heard from several people that we should make this an annual tradition. Sounds fun to me!!
