The big day for this birthday boy arrived on June 4th. Amazingly, he slept in a bit that morning so he missed seeing Jason and Abby before they left for work/school. Abby did do a bit of birthday "decorating" for him downstairs but he was having a really hard time not opening up any of his presents now that his birthday had finally arrived. We called Jason up to see if it was okay if he opened up one present from my sister Lara and he was ecstatic about his new voice changer gadget! That seemed to tide him over until everyone got home and he was able to open up the rest of his presents.
He had a tough time with the ribbon around Grandma and Grandpa's presents...
But he persevered and was so excited about each and every gift he opened (Nolan really tried to get in on the action too!)
The last present he opened was from Jason and me. We got him the same remote-controlled helicopter that we had give to his cousin a few months ago (and one which he ogled and clamored for almost every day since!)
As you can tell, he was so thrilled with it (actually all of us have enjoyed flying it around the house these past few days!)
After dinner at Golden Corral (Landon's choice) and some yummy birthday cake, Landon's 5th birthday celebration was complete.
I still can't believe my little Landon is now five years old. He is crazy, wild, loony and completely exasperating at times, but also so incredibly smart, hilarious, sensitive and loving that it makes up for all the hard moments. Right now he is excited about starting school in the fall but a bit (or A LOT) nervous about getting his five-year-old shots soon. His pediatrician told him about them at his appointment last year (not sure why he did that) and Landon has been dreading them ever since. I think once we get those out of the way, he will enjoy his 5th year so much more.
We sure do love you kiddo!

How sad that he has been thinking about that for a whole year. Poor little guy. Can you believe we will have two in school in the fall. You though will still be a mom to one at home. The time flies.
