Easter Festivities

We enjoyed watching General Conference on Saturday and sustain a new prophet and two new apostles. In between sessions, we spent some time doing some of our fun Easter traditions as well. We all enjoyed dying Easter eggs...

And made a beautiful rainbow of eggs to show off!

Then it was time for our indoor/outdoor Easter egg hunt. All of the kids really got into finding the eggs this year, with uber-competitive Landon finding the most of course!

The collection of eggs was a success!

I decided to do a  color-coded hunt outside so each child could only find the colored eggs that they had been assigned, with each child having 10 eggs to find. This was a great way to keep things even and I could also make the older kids eggs' a bit trickier to find!

Six Flags

The kids didn't have a very long spring break this year (Thursday, Friday and Monday around Easter) but we decided to head down to D.C. on Thursday and hit Six Flags for a couple of days and stay at a hotel to make a little getaway out of it. We had wonderful weather on Thursday night when Six Flags was only open to members and we got to walk right on to almost every ride.
We stayed in a hotel in Baltimore and the kids loved having an indoor pool there and the free hotel breakfast is always a hit! We spent most of Saturday at Six Flags and then headed over to fun park nearby called Watkins Regional Park. It had an amazing playground in the them of the Wizard of Oz and a fun little nature area that all the kids enjoyed exploring.

Overall we had an amazing time before heading back home on Friday evening to prepare for Easter and General Conference!

Scouting for Food

Landon spend two Saturday morning with his Cub Scout troop doing some "Scouting for Food" work. They passed out flyers one week and then picked up all the donated food. They collected over 300 pounds of food for the local food pantry!

Sledding

During our epic snowfall, Abby was invited to go sledding with some friends.

As you can see, they had a great time and all came home with sunburned faces!!

First Day of Spring?!?!?

The first day of Spring hit us with a huge surprise...a big snowstorm!! It snowed most of the day on Tuesday, March 20th (Happy Anniversary present to Jason and I!) and then snowed all day on Wednesday, March 21st. We ended up getting about 15 inches of snow total which is more than all of the rest of the snowstorms we got all winter combined!

They cancelled school on Wednesday and Thursday and the kids had a great time playing in all that glorious white fluff!!

There were lots of snow forts and tunnels built...
And Abby even built herself a little throne to rule on too!

The snow was so wet and heavy that we spend part of Thursday shoveling off our trampoline as it was really starting to bow with all that snow!!

Thursday it got pretty warm again so the kids enjoyed playing in short sleeves and their snow pants!

OK winter, you've had your last hurrah now. We are ready for Spring to finally arrive now!!

Ninja Warrior

The kids are loving their memberships to 4-Star Obstacles lately, especially this little monkey boy!! Nolan goes twice per week and loves it way more than any organized sports activity he has tried so far.
He is getting really strong and I am amazed at all that he can do for being only 6 years old!

Kindle Love

Maylie love to sit and watch Nolan play on his Kindle during his screen time. It must not have been quite enthralling enough for her though because she ended up falling asleep right on his shoulder.

Nolan was so entrances with his video that he never even noticed!

Service

The youth did a nice service project on Tuesday night where they made cookies, a fruit bouquet, and all wrote cards of thanks for members of the Bishopric. Jason currently serves as 2nd Counselor in the bishopric but was out of town that week so we took a picture so he could see it before he arrived home later in the week.

Maylie's Haircut

We decided to go to Hair Cuttery for Maylie to get her first official haircut. She had done her own little trim job a while back and we were hoping to match the "layers" she had cut for herself!!

She was the best little customer and they did great job giving her a cute little A-line bob cut.

Temple Builder

One Sunday Jason and Nolan got to work on building a temple out of the grey and white blocks we have in our huge LEGO collection.

I think Nolan was pretty pleased with how it turned out!
