First Day of School

The first day of school was Monday, August 30th. This was their first "real" first day of school since 2019 since they all started virtually last year, so they were all excited to go. Of course some were more excited than others! It's always hard to say goodbye to summer, but they were all anxious to see what this school year will bring.

Abby (10th grade) + early morning seminary

Landon (8th grade) + last year of middle school

Nolan (5th grade) + last year of elementary school

Maylie (1st grade) + first "real" first day of school

Father's Blessings

Sunday, August 29th was the day before school started so it was time to do some traditional Father's Blessings. They all asked for help with making good friends this year and being able to stay on top of their school work. Here's to a good school year ahead!

Gotta love the photobomber in this picture...

August Happenings

We spent the last two weeks of August visiting Greenbrier State Park several times. We sure do love this place!

As per tradition, on the last Tuesday before school, we stopped by Nutter's Ice Cream for a sweet treat after Greenbrier. Here are most of the kids that come with us each Tuesday during the summer. It's quite a fun group!

We had Back to School Night on the Thursday before school started. Nolan is especially excited that he gets a locker this year as a 5th grader. He was pleased that his skinny self can even fit inside!

On Saturday, August 28th we were able to see this sweet family be sealed in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania temple. We really love the Lopez family and we felt blessed to be there for this special occasion!

Frozen, Jr.

Abby decided to participate in Authentic Community Theater (ACT)'s production of Frozen, Jr. It was a two week summer intensive program where they have two weeks to put on an entire production. She auditioned for her dream role of  "Anna" and ended up getting the part which she was thrilled about. Rehearsals were 9-4 everyday for the first two weeks of August and then they performed their big show on Saturday, August 14th. Of course we were all there, including Tasha's family, cheering her on. Jason's parents even flew in from Texas and surprised her for the big day. She was absolutely amazing as Anna and we were blown away by her performance. While Jason was out getting snacks during intermission he heard two people talking about how "Anna was killing it!" So proud of our amazingly talented girl!

She was a bit out of her comfort zone to have two love interests in this play, but she performed well with both Hans and Christoff!

She ended up becoming good friends with Claire who played Elsa. Claire will be a freshman at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts so it will be nice for them to be at the same school next year!

She enjoyed the whole cast and experience so much and was really sad when it all came to an end. Hopefully she will have some more acting experiences to come this next year!

Congratulating our star after the show!
