Cookie Decorating and Flower Planting

We spent Saturday completely immersed in plants in flowers. We decorated sugar cookies that we purchased from a local baker in our neighborhood. The kids had a great time doing this activity!

We also spent a good part of the day weeding, planting flowers, and splitting our Hosta and Day Lilly plants to create some new flower beds around our property. It was hard work but so fun to see the results of our labors with so much Spring beauty around us!

Service Project

As another service project for our family to participate in, we put bags with a paper stapled to it requesting food and supplies for the Washington County Commission on Aging. They are doing drop-offs every two weeks to senior citizens and disabled persons who have a hard time leaving the house and are at most risk for contracting a deadly form of the Covid-19 virus. Thanks to some generous neighbors, we collected enough supplies to completely fill their donation box!

Poop Monster

This boy poops like 3-4 times a day. It gets a bit ridiculous at times! One afternoon I came in to find him naked from the waist down staring down at his diaper on the floor. We avoided a near disaster as this diaper was filled with poop!

It could have been a real mess, but fortunately it wasn't a poop that got all over his bottom and it mostly stayed all in that diaper that contained the mess. Little stinker!!

Face Masks

We decided that we need to try to do some service as a family during this quarantine. With a "stay-at-home" order in place, it takes some creativity to find something that would work. Jason had heard that the ARC, an organization that helps disabled persons in the area, was in need of face masks. They provided all the material, we just provided the sewing.

This was the first mask I made. I hadn't sewn anything on a sewing machine since 7th grade home economics, so I was pretty proud of my first attempt!

We worked together as a family to make 20 masks to donate to the ARC. We are still in the process of making more masks and will be donating them to the local hospital in our area.

Easter Sunday

We had a zoom meeting for our Easter church service and got dressed in our Easter best for the occasion!

We also went to a cemetery and looked around at many of the graves around that area. This sounds like kind of a morbid thing to do on Easter, but it helps to remind us of our Savior who has broken the bands of death and provided all of us with the gift of the Resurrection!

That afternoon we did an outdoor Easter egg hunt. We hid Hudson's eggs in the front yard and he did a great job finding them all with some help from his older siblings!

Then the four older kids had their hunt out in the backyard. There was lots of running around trying to locate all of their different colored eggs!

Jason had hidden some of the eggs so well that it took quite a while and a few hints to find them all. The kids had so much fun with the egg hunt this year!

Decorating Eggs

Once Hudson went down for a nap, it was time to do some egg decorating! We had fun using egg dye to come up with beautiful looking eggs!

Our finished product!

Easter Saturday

We always have the kids go on a little scavenger hunt to find their Easter baskets on the Saturday before Easter. It was a fun little change during this "stay-at-home" order due to the Covid-19 virus.

Then it was time for our indoor Easter egg hunt. Last year we devised a new system where everyone had one color of egg that they had to look for which worked out really well again this year. This allows us to hide the eggs in easier spots for the younger kids and in more difficult places for the older ones.

Hudson really got into the egg hunt this year, especially when he realized there were some marshmallows in his eggs!

Old Navy Pick-me-up

My sister Lara sent all the kids some shirts from Old Navy as a little "pick-me-up" present during this quarantine. The kids all loved their shirts she had picked out for them!
