Let it snow!!

Another snow day in January called for some bunny time!! Abby purchased her own bunny at the end of November in December and named him Charlie. (Sidenote: She was considering the name "Chestnut" but decided against it because of the song lyrics that go "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire!" Her Dad still continues to call him Chestnut though!) This was his first experience in snow and he wasn't quite sure what to think. The kids sure enjoyed chasing him around though!

Hudson has discovered just how tasty snow can be. I often find him outside eating his way through all this glorious white stuff!

This was the second big snowfall this year with just about a foot of snow. With online school, the kids don't get snow days but they do enjoy taking breaks to play in it when they get the chance!

Snow days also call for lots of puzzle building which I really enjoy along with a few children helpers now and then!

Light it up!

Hudson is taking the initiative to "light the world" very seriously.

I think he could use a few more lights around his neck though, don't you think?!?!?

Playroom Renovation

Since our kids are getting older, we decided to change up our playroom and change it into a teen loft/homework area instead. This playroom has provided us with years of good playtime, but nobody really used the playhouse area anymore.

Here is what it looked like before...

And here is the after! We went with a nautical theme and used many of the things from Hudson's old nursery since he is now sharing a room with Maylie. We kept the reading nook up on the loft but added some comfy chairs and opened it up to create a homework space underneath. There are four desks now underneath the loft, each of which are on hinges that they can pop up or down as needed. This really works out well for virtual learning right now too!

Jason made these barn doors to replace the French doors and I worked on staining them this rich brown color.

We also added a large barn door to cover the window opening for when we have guests using this room overnight. We brought in a TV with our Wii gaming system to hand on the wall and a couch with a sofa bed to complete the makeover!

Notes

How is virtual learning going? Well some days are better than others!

One day I got this lovely note from Maylie when I was trying to help her during one of her virtual learning assignments...

"Mom, maybe if you stopped being rude to me then I will stop being fussy."

Wow, way to tell it like it is Maylie!!

A few days later I got this note too...

"Mom, I like you  because you help me and thank you."

Yup, there's good and bad to virtual learning just as there is with most things in life!

Bedroom Switch

Since Abby was about to turn 15, we decided it might be time for her to have her own room. We transformed her room keeping the same paint color as Hudson's old room. We just added a white painted stencil to one wall to give it some dimension, but without the hassle of wallpaper . We went with a navy, pink, and gold color scheme for the rest of the room. She loves how her room turned out and really likes having her own space!

We moved Hudson in with Maylie and they are becoming the best of friends now that they share a room together! It really has worked out very well for everyone!
