Thanksgiving at the Outer Banks

We were able to spend another amazing week at the Outer Banks for Thanksgiving. Landon and Abby went to a half day of school on Monday, November 22nd and then we made the six hour drive to Duck, NC on Monday afternoon, arriving at our rental home around 6:30 p.m.

While we were there, my sisters Lara and Tami promised $15 to anyone who would be willing to jump into the pool on Thanksgiving morning. The only ones willing to take the plunge were Call family members!

Jason faked the kids out that he was going to do it too, but then held out on them at the last minute (he did jump in later on that morning though!)

Maylie also decided to take a mini plunge too! Crazy polar bears!!

Tasha and Jeff prepared a wonderful Thanksgiving meal for everyone which we all enjoyed!

Of course no trip to the Outer Banks would be complete without visiting the beach for a bit!

On Friday we drove up to Corolla to visit the Currituck Lighthouse, Maritime Museum, and surrounding park area. It was such a fun evening and was nice to revisit an area we hadn't explored in 10 years!

The best part of the OBX is all the fun time we get to spend with family! How we love these people!!

Love this view of the Whalehead Hunting Club historic building.

We stayed at the park to watch the sunset and it did not disappoint!

It was so nice to have all three of my sisters there to spend this special time together. We got to hang out just us sisters on Saturday afternoon while the husbands took the kids to the sand dunes. This is always a favorite place to go in November when the sand isn't blazing hot and everyone returned worn out from all the running and sliding!

Us sisters got some hot chocolate from Duck Cottage and strolled around the shops along the boardwalk before heading back to the beach house and saying our goodbyes. We had church early the next morning and wanted to get a head start on holiday traffic so we left on Saturday night.

We'll see you again next summer OBX!!

Decorating for Christmas

We wanted to get our Christmas tree up before we left for the Outer Banks the week of Thanksgiving. We got all our decorations up on Sunday, November 21st and spent that evening hanging all of our ornaments on our big 12 foot tree. It is always such a fun night of walking down memory lane with all of our different ornaments throughout the years!

All County 8th Grade Chorus

Landon performed in his All-County Chorus concert on Saturday, November 20th. He had been rehearsing with this choir for weeks and they did a great job. The sound was a bit muffled with their masks on but it was still fun to see him up on stage!

Driver's Permit

Several months ago Abby scheduled her driver's permitting appointment at the local MVA so that she could get her driver's permit right on the day that she turned 15 years, 9 months. So off we went at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 20th to mark the first step toward driver independence!

Watch out world, Abby is now behind the wheel!!

Theater Showcase

Abby had a theater showcase on Friday, November 12th where various students presented what they had been working on so far this semester. This was the only picture I got, but it was fun to see her performing up on stage at the Maryland Theater again!

Dapper Boy

I found this cute little hat at Hobby Lobby and Hudson decided it would make him look "dapper" for church on Sunday. Indeed it does little man!

Halloween House Fail!

While we didn't go trick-or-treating on Halloween since it was on a Sunday, we did attempt to make a gingerbread Halloween house. It was a struggle to get it stay together and we had to prop it up with a few card games. We decided to get a picture at the very end and quickly removed the card games in hopes of getting a picture of our creation. It quickly fell in on itself and before we could take a picture, this is what we were left with!! Not our greatest gingerbread build, but it was still fun to decorate and eat!
