WHMS Princess Breakfast

I took Hudson, Maylie, and her friend Ayda to the "Princess Breakfast" they held at Wester Heights Middle School on Saturday, April 30th. They put this together to help promote their upcoming show of "The Little Mermaid." Landon has been busy with rehearsals for his play as he is playing the part of Flounder. He wanted no part in this Princess Breakfast though!

Here they are with "Belle" or Ms. Sunday who is over the dance department.

They enjoyed some royal treatment of face painting and getting their nails painted! They also ate some yummy breakfast treats and made their own princess crafts. 

Here are some of the middle school girls from the play dressed up as various princesses with some of the little princesses who joined them for this special day!

Our friend Leah from church was there too. She is one of the Mersisters in "The Little Mermaid."

They all told me this was the best day ever!

 

Temple Open House Tour Guide

Jason and I spent Saturday, April 23rd being Tour Guides for the Invited Guest tours of the Washington DC temple. It was neat to be there and answer questions from those on our tour as well as those we talked with in the Visitor's Center. It strengthened my testimony of the temple and I am so excited for August when we can all worship there again!

We had three Supreme Court Justices and the U.S. Attorney General all come through for tours that day. I never saw any of them since security was pretty tight around them and they got Elder Cook from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to be their tour guide!

 

Maylie tries gymnastics

Maylie has enjoyed taking a gymnastics class at the YMCA on Thursday evenings these last few months. It is fun for her to have something that is just for her since she is often dragged around to all the other kids' activities!

 

Snow in April?!?!?

This is the weather we had the day after Easter...

 I don't ever remember it snowing in Maryland in April before and I was not a fan. I had already put up all our coats and winter gear. Fortunately it all melted by that evening, but still!! We are ready for Spring to stay around for a while!

Easter 2022

Easter 2022!

How thankful we are for the gift our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His life and resurrection mean so much to us and we were grateful to celebrate Him on this special Easter day. My sister Tasha and her family came to church with us that afternoon and then joined us for Easter dinner afterwards. No better  way to celebrate than with Jesus and family!

 

Easter Egg Hunt Fun

We spent the Saturday before Easter doing lots of egg decorating and egg hunts. Joey joined us for the whole day and we had fun sharing some of our Easter holiday traditions with him. 

We tried out a new technique for coloring eggs this year and we all loved how they turned out!

Everyone had their own personal color of Easter eggs to find both inside and outside which makes it fun for everyone from the toddler to the teens!

Jason and I went out on a date that evening and left Abby and Joey in charge of babysitting everyone else. Joey's siblings were all gone visiting their other parents this weekend so it gave us a chance to get to know him better. 

 

Hershey Park in the Spring

We spent Friday, April 15th at Hershey Park with the Ladners. We had been trying to make this trip happen since last fall and finally we had good weather and no one was sick! 

Of course a lot of other people had the same idea on Good Friday and it was PACKED!! We were able to get on a few fun rides before the crowds got too bad though.

The three younger kids all enjoyed another trip to ZooAmerica while the older ones hit up a few roller coaster rides. 

We had to wait almost two hours to order our lunch and by the time we finished with that, we decided it was time to leave the park and head over to Hershey Chocolate World next door. We always enjoy the free chocolate tour there and shopping for souvenirs. We hit up Sheetz for a few snacks before driving back home. It was a fun way to spend part of our Spring Break!

 

Park Day

The kids had Spring Break from Thursday, April 14th to Monday, April 18th so we took advantage of some nice weather on their first day to hit up Marty Snook Park. Maylie and Hudson really liked this little umbrella tree. 

We all really love the new "Mystic Woods" play area!

It was nice to get out of the house for a bit because too much inside time leads to quite a bit of fighting and arguing amongst these children!

 

Training for Washington DC Temple Open House

Jason and I headed down to the Washington DC temple on Saturday, April 9th to take part in a training session to volunteer for the Temple Open House invited guests tours. It has been four long years since this temple shut it's doors for extensive renovation work so it felt so nice to be back inside again. It felt like coming home!

 

Abby is going to Prom!

Joey asked Abby to prom on Friday, April 1st right before a stake youth activity. No April Fool's joke for this girl..she'll be heading to her first prom on Saturday, May 7th!

 

Day in Washington DC

After the zoo, we headed into the city to explore some of the sights and see the cherry blossoms in full bloom. It seemed like everyone else had the same idea as DC was packed, but we still managed to see a lot of the monuments and the trees were gorgeous!

 

National Zoo

There was no school on Friday, March 25th so we decided to take a trip down to the National Zoo in Washington DC. It had been years since we had been and it so fun to see it again through Hudson's toddler eyes!

This bird gave the kids quite a fright. They were all standing near that green railing when it flew up to join them!

Abby was a bit wary of this thing!!

Hudson is obsessed with elephants so this is what he was most excited to see!

It was a gorgeous Spring day and with low crowds at the zoo, it was perfect day to be there!
