Under Contract!!

The day after we toured Washington D.C. we found out that we were finally under contract for a home (this was also the day of our 6th anniversary, so it was a very nice present to receive!)
This was the first home we made an offer on back in early December. We weren't able to come to a price agreement back then so we moved on (although we really LOVED this home and we compared every other home we saw to this one.) About 10 days ago the owners came back to us to see if we were still in the market for a home (we were) and if we were still interested (we really were!!) We raised our offer a tad and they accepted it. We are scheduled to close on May 7th, right after I get back from a trip out west.
We are really, really excited about this house and can't wait to start moving in. I will post inside pictures after we close because I am still afraid something might fall through between now and then. We had the inspection done last week and everything was great so hopefully after the bank appraisal, we should be good to go!

It's amazing how everything has worked out though. Jason just happened to be off work during the time that we were able to see the home again, sign all the papers for our final offer and even do the home inspection. We had initially planned to go to Houston to see Jason's family during this time off, but we both felt prompted to stay put (and we were hoping that it would have something to do with a home, which it did!) Also, since we sold our last home on May 3, 2007 (the one we only owned for 5 months!!) we will technically be first time home buyers again by May 7th (can't have owned a home within the last 3 years) so we will qualify for the tax credit. We weren't planning on using it since we thought it would only take a short amount of time to find a home (instead of 6 months!!) but we'll take the $8000 if the government wants to give it to us!!
So yeah, we are jumping for joy around these parts. We actually spent part of our anniversary night out at Home Depot planning all the things we wanted to do/paint/install etc. in this new home. It is only 2 years old and very move-in ready, but it will be so nice to be able to put our finishing touches on a home again. We can hardly wait!!!

Yay! That is SO exciting. And, looking at the picture it looks PERFECT for you! I cannot wait to see what you do with it once you make the move in May. Congratulations and what a great anniversary present.

Wow, I just have to say you guys are the luckiest people ever when it comes to homes. It seems like everything just falls into place time after time after time. Tell me your secrets:) Good luck with everything:) I also didn't know about you being considered first time homeowners even if you have owned a home before. So if you sell your home and don't own a home for 3 years then you are considered a first time home owner again? Am I understanding that right?

It looks like a great house just from the outside.

Congratulations!!!!! I am so excited for you guys. It is beautiful. I love the look of the homes out there. And Wahoo for the $8000 tax credit. How crazy that you are just within days of qualifying for it. Sweet! Can't wait to see the inside. And can't wait even more to see YOU soon!

Yea so glad you got the house you wanted! We backed out of buying that house and are putting an offer in on another house. It's like 2 streets over from the first house we put an offer in and absolutely loved and should have been ours. All I can say is I hope i'm that sneaky couples visiting teacher so I can go over to their house and relish in what should have been ours!!! Wish us luck! We are so excited to come out there this summer.

What a beautiful home!! Congrats! I'm so glad it all worked out for you and that you get the tax return, too. That's awesome! Can't wait to see pictures of the inside and what you decide to do with it. I have commitment phobia when it comes to decorating so I haven't done a thing!
