Playroom Renovation

Since our kids are getting older, we decided to change up our playroom and change it into a teen loft/homework area instead. This playroom has provided us with years of good playtime, but nobody really used the playhouse area anymore.

Here is what it looked like before...

And here is the after! We went with a nautical theme and used many of the things from Hudson's old nursery since he is now sharing a room with Maylie. We kept the reading nook up on the loft but added some comfy chairs and opened it up to create a homework space underneath. There are four desks now underneath the loft, each of which are on hinges that they can pop up or down as needed. This really works out well for virtual learning right now too!

Jason made these barn doors to replace the French doors and I worked on staining them this rich brown color.

We also added a large barn door to cover the window opening for when we have guests using this room overnight. We brought in a TV with our Wii gaming system to hand on the wall and a couch with a sofa bed to complete the makeover!
