Thanksgiving at the Outer Banks

We were able to spend another amazing week at the Outer Banks for Thanksgiving. Landon and Abby went to a half day of school on Monday, November 22nd and then we made the six hour drive to Duck, NC on Monday afternoon, arriving at our rental home around 6:30 p.m.

While we were there, my sisters Lara and Tami promised $15 to anyone who would be willing to jump into the pool on Thanksgiving morning. The only ones willing to take the plunge were Call family members!

Jason faked the kids out that he was going to do it too, but then held out on them at the last minute (he did jump in later on that morning though!)

Maylie also decided to take a mini plunge too! Crazy polar bears!!

Tasha and Jeff prepared a wonderful Thanksgiving meal for everyone which we all enjoyed!

Of course no trip to the Outer Banks would be complete without visiting the beach for a bit!

On Friday we drove up to Corolla to visit the Currituck Lighthouse, Maritime Museum, and surrounding park area. It was such a fun evening and was nice to revisit an area we hadn't explored in 10 years!

The best part of the OBX is all the fun time we get to spend with family! How we love these people!!

Love this view of the Whalehead Hunting Club historic building.

We stayed at the park to watch the sunset and it did not disappoint!

It was so nice to have all three of my sisters there to spend this special time together. We got to hang out just us sisters on Saturday afternoon while the husbands took the kids to the sand dunes. This is always a favorite place to go in November when the sand isn't blazing hot and everyone returned worn out from all the running and sliding!

Us sisters got some hot chocolate from Duck Cottage and strolled around the shops along the boardwalk before heading back to the beach house and saying our goodbyes. We had church early the next morning and wanted to get a head start on holiday traffic so we left on Saturday night.

We'll see you again next summer OBX!!
