City Park Tree Lighting

On Friday, December 2nd, we headed over to City Park for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and other festivities. We started the evening by watching a fire dancer/hula hooper perform. She was pretty good!

Then we braved the cold to wait for the countdown to see all the lights turn on...

They were late getting the lights on so it was quite entertaining as we tried to prevent Maylie from jumping in the lake for those extra 15 minutes!

But the wait was worth it as we saw the lights around the lake come on for the first time this year!

We then got some hot chocolate and cookies and headed over to the different museums. We visited the Jonathan Hager house and counted our blessings of modern conveniences like indoor plumbing. Then we walked across the park to the Art Museum to see Santa and get some more cookies!

We then headed over to the Fine Arts Museum where they had this neat art display and description honoring those who had battled cancer...

We put Grandma Julie and Grandpa Don's name on this little boat...

And sailed it along on this beautiful art display as a tribute to their fight.

We ended the evening with an art scavenger hunt and some more cookies. Such a fun tradition to attend each year!
